Meet at 7:00 am (depart at 7:15) at the Park-and-Ride on the south side of Bell Road, just west of I-17.

Join us for a 4X4 adventure on the stony wonderland that is the old wagon trail called Schnebly Hill Road. Slowly ascending a series of switchbacks up the mountain, we’ll stop for photo ops of the towering red rock buttes set against a backdrop of deep-green forest. Near the 5-mile mark is a 3 - mile side trip on the very scenic Volcanic Loop.

Bring your hiking boots as we may decide to walk part of the very rough and rocky Volcanic Loop.

Schnebly Hill Road ends at I-17, which we’ll take to return to Phoenix.

Both 4X4 vehicles and SUVs with high ground clearance are suitable for this adventure. Please call Larry if you have questions about your vehicle, or if you want to a ride in someone’s 4X4.

Wear comfortable boots and clothing. Bring sunscreen, plenty of water, snacks, and a lunch. If you plan to ride with one of the 4X4 drivers, bring $ for the carpool. Children and dogs are welcome, if you are a driver.

This event will be canceled if there is inclement weather in the forecast.

Cost to non-members is $5. Guests and new members should contact the hike leader prior to the hike.
