On President’s Day weekend (February 15-17), we’ll be hiking two sections of the Arizona Trail. Passage 3 (Canelo Hills West, 16.6 miles) and Passage 4 (Temporal Gulch, 22.3 miles) share a common trailhead in Patagonia, AZ (approximately 60 miles south of Tucson.) Depending on how many people we have, we plan to offer custom shorter versions of both hikes as well as full-passage hikes.

The trails pass through red rock cliffs, rolling hills, grassy valleys and riparian areas within the Coronado National Forest and Mount Wrightson Wilderness. Since we’ll be hiking toward Patagonia on both days, the hikes will be primarily downhill, with less than 1,000 feet elevation gain each day on very well-maintained trails.

The cost per person for two nights, double lodging at the Stage Stop Inn in Patagonia is approximately $100. If you’re interested in joining us, call or email either leader: Dan Rothman (480-773-5197, dwrr1@yahoo.com) or Scott Green (480-444-6244, psp92@cox.net).

Because the hikes involve car shuttles, and because we need to reserve a block of rooms, please respond as soon as possible if you’re interested.
