Join us as we resume the Arizona Trail Project with two beautiful passages just southeast of Tucson. We’ll meet on Saturday morning on the south side of Phoenix at 7:00 am. Contact leader for meeting location and to make carpool and lodging arrangements.

Both hikes will proceed from south to north, with a car shuttle at the end.

Passage 5 involves up-and-down terrain, with beautiful views of the Santa Rita Mountains to the west, particularly Mount Wrightson, as it passes through an area rich in Arizona mining history, including the restored Kentucky Camp.

Passage 6 rolls generally downhill along the foothills of the Santa Ritas, with great views of the Empire Mountains to the east and Rincons to the north.

Our average moving pace will be 2.5 to 3.0 mph on both days.

On Saturday night, between hikes, we’ll be staying in a motel on the southeast side of Tucson. Those wishing to make this a day hike and head home on Saturday evening after Passage 5 may do so, provided that we have enough cars for the shuttle between trailheads.
