Meet at 8:15 am (depart at 8:30) at the Holiday Inn east side parking lot, just south of US 60 on Country Club Drive in Mesa. We will carpool south on Highway 79, the Pinal Pioneer Parkway. Hwy 79 was the main road to Tucson before the interstate was completed.

This is always a beautiful drive, relaxing and very scenic; should have many blooming desert flowers with mountains in the backdrop. We’ll stop at the Tom Mix Monument.

Biosphere 2 is located north of Tucson and east of Oracle at the base of the stunning Santa Catalina Mountains. This one-of-a-kind facility sits on a ridge at a cool elevation of nearly 4000 feet and is surrounded by a magnificent natural desert preserve. Come experience the remarkable Biosphere 2, which Time Life Books recently named one of the 50 must see "Wonders of the World".

The tour is a 1-mile walk and takes 1.5 hours. Expect to stop afterwards for lunch and libations at Oracle Patio Cafe.

Bring sunscreen, hat, walking shoes, some snacks and $$ for carpool. Children welcome. Dogs are not allowed. Entrance fee to Biosphere 2 is $20 for adults and $18 seniors.

Non-members always call the hike leader before the hike.
