Meet at 8:30 am (depart at 8:45) at the Park-and-Ride on the south side of Bell Rd., just west of I-17. We will carpool to the Spur Cross Ranch parking area. There is a $3 per person entrance fee.

We begin by taking the Spur Cross Trail north toward Elephant Mountain which dominates the skyline to the west-northwest. The desert should be green and lush this time of year, with wildflowers painting swaths of color along the trail. In addition to panoramic vistas of the surrounding hills, mountains and mesas north of the Valley, the trail leads past ancient petroglyphs to idyllic, well-shaded and watered spots along Cave Creek. Expect to stop afterwards for lunch and libations at an eatery in Cave Creek. Bring sunscreen, hat, boots, plenty of water, snacks, and $ for carpool. Children and well behaved outdoor dogs are welcome. Cost to non-members is $5.
