Meet at 8:30 am (depart at 8:45) at the Park-and-Ride on the south side of Bell Rd., just west of I-17.

This is a casual event that is geared for beginning hikers. We begin with a 150' incline for the first half mile to get warmed up. Then the hike levels off for the next half mile and there is undulation and added elevation of 300 feet with scenic views and resting areas. The remainder of the climb is steep with switchbacks. You will be rewarded when you reach the top of the peak just past the 1.5 mile point with panoramic views of a full 360 degrees. On a clear day you will see downtown Phoenix to the southeast, White Peak toward the west, Lake Pleasant and Waddell Dam to the north, and the New River Dam toward the northeast that joins the West Wing and East Wing mountains together. You will be rewarded with downhill and level terrain for the remainder of the hike.

Bring sunscreen, hat, boots, plenty of water, snacks. Children, well behaved outdoor dogs are welcome.

Cost to non-members is $5. Guests and new members should contact the hike leader prior to the hike. AzOTC members need not call ahead.
