This scenic loop hike winds though the Sonoran desert foothills on a series of trails including Spur Cross, Metate, Tortuga, and Elephant Mountain. We’ll stop for an early lunch at the saddle on Elephant Mountain, which offers panoramic views of Sugarloaf Mountain and Skull Mesa. Descending the other side of the saddle, the trail loops around Elephant Mountain to return to the trailhead.

Wear sturdy hiking boots, wide brimmed hat or sunglasses. Sections of the trail are steep, so hiking sticks are recommended. Bring a rain jacket, snacks, lunch, plenty of water, and $3 for the entrance fee to the Spur Cross Conservation Area.

Non-members - $5 fee and non-members must call the hike leader before the hike.
