Meet at the Gateway Center to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve on Thompson Peak Parkway at 5:25 am. Hike starts promptly at 5:30 am.

We’ll beat (most of) the summer heat on an early hike through Scottsdale’s beautiful McDowell Sonoran Preserve, following well-marked and well-maintained trails on a counter-clockwise loop that includes the Gateway, Bell Pass and Windgate Trails. We’ll do the first 1.5 miles at a moderate pace, so those wishing a shorter or slower hike (5 miles, 600 ft EG) can branch off after that and return to the start via the very popular Gateway Loop.

Bring plenty of water, snacks and sturdy hiking boots.

We’ll be done by around 9:00 am and have breakfast at the nearby General Store.

Cost to non-members is $5.

Guests and new members should call the hike leader prior to the hike.
