Meet at 8:00 am (depart at 8:15) at the Tom’s Thumb Trailhead (north side), which is located south of Dynamite Road at 23015 N. 128th Street. (If you need help with directions, contact either leader or visit the McDowell Sonoran Preserve website ( and click on “Trailhead Locations.”

This bending and twisting trail winds through a beautiful desert landscape with views of Four Peaks and the far-off Superstitions. The gently rolling hills with easy elevation make for a great hike to get out and move - and work off the holiday pounds! Enjoy fabulous, lush desert landscape and amazing granite outcroppings. We will start our hike from the Tom's Thumb Trailhead and follow the Marcus Landslide Trail to the Rock Knob Trail to Gooseneck Trail. This is an in and out hike.

Bring plenty of water, electrolytes and snacks. There is no potable water at the trailhead, though there are other facilities. No children or dogs please.

Cost to non-members is $5. Only guests and new members need to contact the hike leader prior to the hike.
