Meet at 7:15 am (depart 7:30) at the Park-and-Ride at the southwest corner of the Bell Road exit to I-17. This new Sedona trail has it all! We’ll start at the base of Schnebly Road Hill, hike up Munds Wagon Trail to Cow Pies, then loop around Mitten Ridge on the Hangover Trail back to Munds Wagon. The trail offers sensational views of Sedona itself, and most of the famous red rock landmarks in the area. It’s called “Hangover Trail” not because it has a drinking problem, but due to some of the ledges on which it’s constructed, and which in other places hang over the trail itself. For those wishing to take a steep and challenging climb to the arches atop Mitten Ridge, that will be an optional side trip. If you’ve never hiked in Sedona before, or if you’re looking for a new Sedona experience, this is the one for you. Afterwards, we’ll stop for something to eat in Sedona or Oak Creek. Wear sturdy hiking boots and bring plenty of water. Cost to non-members is $5.
