B- LENGTH: 9.0 mi ELEV GAIN 600 ft PACE: Medium

Meet at 7:30 am (depart 7:45) on the south side of Kohl's parking lot at the NW corner of Arizona and Willis, just south of the San Tan (202) freeway.

Spanish explorer de Anza traveled this route in 1775 with 200 settlers and 1000 cattle on his way to the Presidio at San Francisco. The trail starts near the Tubac Presidio National Historic Park and follows the Santa Cruz River, crossing it 3 times each way on our out and back hike. The water level should be low enough to rock hop across, but everyone should bring poles, an additional pair of water shoes (Tevas, old tennis shoes, etc), small towel and spare socks in case we have to wade across. The trail ends at the Tumacacori Mission National Historic Park.

There is an optional Linner stop at Wisdoms in Tumacacori, acclaimed by AZ Highways Magazine for fruit burritos and shredded turkey enchiladas, flautas, chimis and margaritas to boot.

This is an all-day event with our return to Kohls about 7:30 pm.

No pets or children. This hike will be cancelled in case of rain. Overnight lodging is available, but not included in this event.

Cost to non-members is $5. Guests and new members should contact the hike leader prior to the hike.
