Meet at 8:30 am (depart at 8:45) at the trailhead (from I-10 going south, exit on 202/Pecos Road. Go west (right) on Pecos Road for 7 miles and turn right on 17th Ave. Turn left on to Chandler Blvd. and go to end of road and park where road is closed off at 19th Ave.) E-mail me if you would rather meet at Fry’s Electronics at I-10 and Baseline Rd.

From the TH, we will hike a little over a mile to the ruins of an abandoned building at the base of South Mountain and then start up the Lost Ranch Ruins Trail (unofficial name). This trail is very steep and somewhat rocky. We will gain almost 1000 feet in less than a mile. Next we go west on the National Trail, passing several abandoned mines and then return on the Bursera Trail. This will be a strenuous hike, but it is interesting and scenic. Bring a minimum of 2 liters of water, electrolytes, and a snack. Wear appropriate footwear, sunscreen, and hat. Cost to non-members is $5.
