A LENGTH: 10.7 mi. ELEV. GAIN: 3,300 ft. PACE: Medium

Meet at 7:00 am (start 7:05) at the TOM’s THUMB TRAILHEAD (23015 North 128th Street – go to for further directions).

If you haven’t already burned off the Thanksgiving turkey, this hike will do it.  Tom’s Thumb is one of the most distinctive and well-known hiking and rock climbing destinations in the Phoenix area.  We’ll ascend to the formation from the trail on its north side, enjoy the great views from there for a while, then resume by descending the steep but well maintained East End Trail.  From there we’ll proceed up and down from Windgate Pass before intersecting and returning to Tom’s Thumb from the south, and finally descending to the trailhead below.

Cost to non-members is $5.
