Red Mountain and Slate Mountain Hike (West of Flagstaff)

Meet at 7:00 am (depart at 7:15) at the Park-and-Ride on the south side of Bell Road., just west of I-17.

The Red Mountain Trail is an easy walk into the heart of a colorful, highly eroded cutaway volcano, with many interesting hoodoo formations. The nearby Slate Mountain Trail #128 will take us up another extinct volcano, a rhyolite lava dome. Expect great views from the top.

Bring sunscreen, hat, boots, at least 3 liters of water, lunch or snacks, and $ for carpool.

We can stop in Flagstaff for dinner or refreshments after the hike.

The hike will be cancelled if rain is forecast.

Cost to non-members is $5. Guests and new members should contact the hike leader prior to the hike.
