Meet at 8:00 AM (depart at 8:15 AM) outside the Costco gasoline fuel islands located just north of I-10 & off the 101. It’s at Gateway Pavilions, 10000 W. McDowell Rd. We will carpool from this parking area. This is a casual event that is geared for beginning hikers. We begin with a stroll over a graceful, oxidized bridge spanning Mountain Wash. The ascent on the Turnbuckle Trail loops around a prominent mountain peak and connects with the Valley Vista Trail where we begin the descent. Many beautifully framed scenic vistas. We will experience the pristine washes and foothills of the southern White Tank mountains. There is a cluster of eateries at the I-10 Buckeye exit (2 miles south of the park) so we may elect to have lunch afterwards. Bring sunscreen, hat, boots, plenty of water, snacks & cash for carpool. Children and well behaved outdoor dogs are welcome. AzOTC members need not call ahead. Non-members always call the hike leader before the hike. Cost to non-members is $5.
