Meet at 8:30 am (depart at 8:45) at the Mormon Trail parking lot on S. 24th Street where it dead ends at South Mountain (south of Baseline Rd.).

We will either walk four blocks through a residential area or, depending on the size of the group, take my car to the Geronimo Trail, where we will hike 1,200 feet in 2.5 miles to the Buena Vista lookout.

Enroute, if there’s sufficient interest, we can take a short spur detour through a dry wash to see some rarely visited petroglyphs. From the Buena Vista lookout, we will head east on the National Trail, eventually squeezing through Fat Man’s pass and into the lovely Hidden Valley. The return to the parking lot will be via the Mormon Trail.

Bring boots, hat, plenty of water and snacks. Poles are useful. Leashed and well behaved dogs are welcome. Check this listing the day before the hike for any changes.

Cost to non-members is $5. Guests and new members should contact the hike leader prior to the hike.
