Meet at 9:15 am (depart at 9:30) at the Holiday Inn east side parking area, just south of US 60 on Country Club Dr. in Mesa.

Bring your camera and come view fall colors as we walk through the grounds at Boyce Thompson Arboretum. The Arboretum is located at Highway 60 Milepost #223 near Superior, about one hour's drive due east of Phoenix on the Superstition Freeway. In addition to the grounds, this is the last day of the Fall Plant Sale featuring plants available for purchase that are grown by Arboretum horticultural staff. Representatives are usually on hand to answer plant questions during the sale. At 10:30 AM attend a workshop on Mesquite flour processing. Mesquite trees produce pods that can taste sugary-sweet when ground into flour, learn harvest and grinding techniques and have a chance to sample products made from mesquite. No pre-registration is needed, each workshop is included with daily admission of $10. Mesquite-based snacks are shared at the end of each class, too! East Valley author Jean Groen will be sharing fresh-griddled mesquite flour waffles with pomegranate syrup. Guests welcome!
