B- LENGTH: 8 or 9.4 mi ELEV GAIN: ~1100 ft PACE: Medium

Meet at 6:45 am (depart at 7:00) at Wendy's in Fountain Hills, Shea Blvd. just west of Highway 87 (Beeline). The U-Bar Trail is part of the Cabin Loop, a system of trails that connect 3 historic cabins in the Mogollon Rim Country. Enjoy this scenic hike above 7000 feet elevation which features a permanent stream, grassy meadows, a variety of trees, and the ruins of an old cabin. We’ll start hiking near the southern trailhead and hike north for 4 miles. Faster hikers can continue another 0.7 miles to Barbershop Canyon if they wish. This is an in-and-out hike with good trail conditions. Getting to the trailhead requires a long but very scenic drive along the Rim Road. Bring sunscreen, hat, at least 3 liters of water, lunch or snacks, rain gear, and $ for carpool. We’ll consider stopping to eat before the drive home. Hike will be canceled in case of a monsoon rain. Cost to non-members is $5.
