Meet at 7:30 am (depart at 7:45) at the Park-and-Ride on the south side of Bell Rd., just west of I-17.

We will carpool to the Vultee Arch/Sterling Pass Trailhead approx. 9 miles north & west of Sedona. This is a 4 mile in & out on a well maintained trail which climbs gradually in the shade of Arizona cypress beside a dry stream bed on the floor of Sterling Canyon. There are occasional views of red rock formations to the left and of the sheer walls of Lost Wilson Mountain on the right. After passing Sterling Pass Trail at 1.75 mile we continue 100 yards where the trail ends at a large red rock outcrop. There are nice views of the canyon, mountains and of Vultee Arch, about 0.25 miles to the north. There is a bronze memorial plaque for Gerard and Sylvia Vultee. Some of the more adventurous may want to bushwhack over to the arch. We will stop for lunch & libations at Coffee Pot Restaurant on the return. Bring sunscreen, hat, boots, plenty of water, snacks and $ for carpool. If you have them, bring your Red Rock Pass or a Senior National Parks Pass. Cost to non-members is $5.
