Most of us thought that lots of wet, cool weather was a welcome relief.

On our final day in Utah, after the fantastic Maze Expedition, six of eight adventurers spent another day exploring over 100 miles visiting & photographing two more of Southern Utah's delights.
Fun & Photo Expedition to The Maze, Utah
May, 2011

A hardy group of 8 adventurers led by Chuck Williams went exploring for 4 days in "The Maze." This is one of the most remote & difficult areas to access in Southern Utah. Day one & Day 6 were spent in the lap of luxury, Hanksville. (not satire, just a nice, basic & friendly place to stay). The Maze is reached by 4x4 only: you do 30 miles of gravel + 8 miles of bone jarring, vehicle wrenching excitement with a little Fear thrown in! Once there, you are captured, captivated - & - enchanted by the Maze's architectural mimicry of temples, cathedrals, spires, pagodas, shrines, castles, battlements. We were blessed by mostly good weather: It was cold, wet the 1st night, storms finished up the next day, followed by mild conditions for our explorations and hikes. Great campout.

AzOTCs Chicken Point Sedona
October 23, 2010

Jeanie & Van plotted West Fork of Oak Creek for fall color -- an easy hike but didn't count on the crowds attracted for the fall colors. Parking lot was packed! We head back through Sedona, Oak Creek and take the Little Horse Trail to Chicken Point. Not as much fall colors but it is spectacular! And added to that was a great bunch of fellow hikers. It all ended in Campe Verde for some Great Mexican Food.
